Hockney at Saltaire
It was an early start to get down to Saltaire near Shipley to meet a friend up from Essex for a few days. We made good time and did the journey in under 3 hours so we had time to look round the Hockneys. This 90 plus metre frieze, a year in Normandy, was designed on computer and printed.
We had lunch of fish and chips for Mr C and me, and burgers for Pat in Dave in Salts Diner. It was a long lunch as we had a lot to catch up on!
Pat is a historian and a descendant of Sir Titus Salt who built the model village and mill. After lunch we had a wander and found the street, named after Titus’s son who was her several times great grandfather Herbert.
Pat was very pleased when I showed her how to use the long exposure on the phone down by the weir. She takes photos with a proper camera and is a member of a club, getting some wonderful photos in the traditional way which is beyond me. (I joined Blip with the intention of learning all about stops and settings but haven’t got round to it - yet).
We are heading back up the A1 in lovely sunshine.
