Brummies and the Barbie Bull

Took the kids into Birmingham today to give Deb time to write her final essay for this stage of her becoming a Baptist minister.

Went round some of Birmingham's landmarks; said they should know them, as they are Brummies, at which point they insisted they weren't. So why does your postcode begin with a B, said I.

The main is the iconic library, covered in rings to symbolise Birmingham's industrial past, as well as the Jewelry Quarter. I stupidly acceded to their insistence that they should play in the water in their footwear, so we then had to make use of the toilet hand dryers when they got too wet and cold. We went out on both terrace gardens on the seventh and ninth floors, and into the golden dome you see at the top, which houses the Shakespeare Collection.

In extra, a rather surprising replica of Birmingham's Bull in Barbie pink in another iconic building, the Selfridges department store.

Gratefuls:
- getting the front seat upstairs in the bus on the way in, such a different perspective, brushing against huge trees
- Deb getting her last essay done
- trying bubble tea for the first time, loved the tapioca balls, reminded me of soaking tapioca in milk in the Amazon
