The Silent City
Cathedral in the Silent City, Mdina, Malta.
Beautiful on the outside and inside. Clock to the left shows the day and month while clock on the right is the time. The silent city of Mdina used to be the capital of Malta. It's surrounded by huge walls and a moat and was built high up to keep it protected.
It is no longer the capital but it is certainly still silent. Only residents are allowed to drive within the walls and everything is eerily quiet so all you can hear are the birds singing.
The birds are so tame here, we had several little cute ones almost climbing onto our plates to steal some pizza!
I used to go to nursery here in Mdina, the silent city, when I was tiny. I also performed in a nativity in a cathedral here although not the one in this picture. I was a donkey.
