Hovering into Land
One of the benefits of being retired is that one can "weather watch" and have a day out almost at a drop of a hat. Today was one of those days, with perhaps the last sunny day this August. It was also the last week when the Portsmouth Park and Ride service runs to Southsea Castle and the D-Day Exhibition.
I timed my journey to park and catch the bus, with minimal waiting around, arriving at the castle in time for morning coffee before walking round the castle. It was then time for a slow meander along the promenade to Portsmouth Harbour via Clarence Pier, the Point (or Spice Island), and Gunwharf Quays with the Spinnaker Tower. It was then time to catch the bus back to the P&R car park while letting the driver take the strain of driving through the horrendous rush hour traffic - I do like P&Rs!
The extras show views of Gunwharf Quays from the Point and from the old harbour, while the main shot is of a Hovercraft coming into land, with the upside-down house, a relatively new attraction, in the background.
It was a good day!
