New hobby?
We had the most wonderful breakfast - this place is famous for them (to us, anyway). To start with we had a selection of different toasted breads, croissants, fruit juice, yoghurt; then muesli, fresh fruit (raspberries, strawberries and blueberries) & honey, followed by poached eggs on toast with crispy bacon and coffee.
Thus fortified, we headed up the road a few miles to visit our favourite stop on the A9 - House of Bruar. We never pass it without having a scone there (they're humungous). However, a visit just after a Port na Craig breakfast, renders scones impossible.
However, we did look round the shop, which is glorious - NO MUZAK, just peace and quiet. The huge leather cushions by the fire (not on today) with today's papers, and a selection of magazines was my destination.
After a brief shopping perusal, we took a walk up the hill to the wee small hump bridge, which was just as peaceful and quiet as the shop. There are wee little waterfalls (and big ones!) and rock pools gouged out the whole way down the river. We watched a group of silly people jumping into the rock pools, apparently it's a THING!! It’s called canyoning.
Big accident just at the turn off on to the main road, the A9, as we left, so we went back along the minor road (B8079), through Blair Atholl, which is much nicer route anyway.
Home in a couple of hours, and the most stressful bit was getting in the correct route you want to Edinburgh, if you get in the wrong lane, and miss your turn off, you end up in Stirling. Luckily I had JR constantly shouting instructions at me… We had time for a car wash before collecting Archie from his holiday home about 4pm.
What a great wee short holiday we had. We're already looking at upcoming events at the theatre...
