A day at the races.
The yarn bombers have been busy in Thirsk yet again. The summer theme is Thirsk Races.
These are just a few Of the ones round the market square.
After our usual trip to Birstall to buy fish, we drove up to Great Ayton in North Yorkshire.
Pork pies bought at Petch the butcher, followed by a coffee at The Poorhouse. One of our favourite coffee shops.
Then to Lordstones at the top of Carlton Bank high up in the Cleveland Hills.
After eating the pork pies ( delicious) and another coffee, we had a walk along the Cleveland Way to see the heather.
Looking fabulous although past it’s best. ( see extra)
The view from up here is also one of our favourites. Such a stunning panorama. A wonderful patchwork of fields. You can see right over to Middlesbrough and up to the top of Roseberry Topping. ( see extra)
On the way home we stopped in Thirsk.
I bought some sandals (£20 off in the sale) and also some new reading glasses to replace the ones I broke. As they were only £3.99 I bought two pairs. One for up stairs and one for down!
Now back home after a very enjoyable day. The last day of the meteorological summer.
It has been warm and mainly sunny. Pity we didn’t have a few more days like this.
However I think we might have a bit of an Indian Summer next week.
