Carving a niche
Carlton gardens.
Melbourne Museum (2001) in the background
In the foreground remnants of an beautiful insurance building(1896) that stood Collins St before being demolished in 1960. These stone blocks are a type of interactive sculpture, where people sit and children play making it continuing source of enjoyment. There is an information board which shows whereabouts on the original 10 storey building the stones were located.
To get so close to these first class carvings, that were once high above eye level, is so interesting. Though the building is long gone it is wonderful that the workmanship can be enjoyed and appreciated even now.
As soon as I entered this Blip I realised that it is pretty similar to yesterday's. This will not be a series... tomorrow's Blip should be something different. Flying to Sydney tonight..another day another City.
