It's finished!!
At long last - our long overdue main bedroom revamp is finished. Those who follow my journal may remember that it started over 2 years ago with renovation of the sash windows. Then in October last year we started the rest of the job in earnest. In November the fitters came with new fitted furniture. Then we stripped wallpaper...which required a visit from a plasterer just before Christmas to repair some of the walls. Christmas itself then our trip to Toronto in the New Year for the arrival of the new grandson put things on hold until March with renovation of the wooden panels beneath the windows then stripping of most of the rest of the paintwork. By April we were ready for our friendly local decorator to come - he did a great job. Travelling in the UK and Canada, plus family visits here, interrupted the work until late July when new radiators were fitted and plumbed (previously the radiators had been in front of the panelling below the windows but we wanted to make a feature of the panels so we chose tall wall-mounted radiators).
The final job was fitting a new carpet - the fitters from a local firm came on Tuesday.
It's been a long job but we're very pleased with it! We do need to choose some easy chairs to put in the corner to the left of the chimney breast but there's no hurry for those.
(Note: As before these panoramic shots do distort the walls - they're all actually straight! And in one of the photos it's made the radiator by the small window look a bit funny - but hopefully they give an impression of the room anyway.)
Reminder: Tomorrow is the first in the month and so will be a hosted Silly Saturday in memory of Admirer. 60plus has kindly agreed to host it - tags will be SilSSep2023 or SilS361. So please have a think what to blip and give 60plus a good chuckle like Admirer used to enjoy!
