A morning at the reserve
No rain forecast so I set off to the local RSPB reserve. It was quiet, just a few groups of serious birders and a few well behaved dog walkers.
I’m not well informed about what is to be seen, and I’m nosey, so I ask people I come across.
There was a serious volunteer doing an all day survey, listing every bird type he sees. He mentioned that first thing, he’d seen a Woodcock and a Hobby. He listed a lot of other stuff, some of which Merlin told me he could hear.
I’m hoping that my photo is of the Gadwall.I know it resembles a Mallard and there were plenty of those, but a well informed and very helpful young couple found this and guided me to take the shot.
As I headed back to the car park, the volunteer doing the survey was extremely happy. He’d seen a Bittern. Lots of people have heard them round here, but actually seeing one, he said, had made his day.
Have a good one too, my blipfriends.
