Mellon Udrigle beach

We're so glad that we decided to extend our wee holiday. After packing the car and locking up the cottage this morning, we drove along the coast to spend most of the day on the beautiful beach at Mellon Udrigle (blipped). It was so hot at one point that I had to walk back to the car and rifle through our suitcase to find a lighter T shirt to wear. (Mr hazelh wore only his swimming trunks the whole time that we were there.)

We are now installed in the Ceilidh Place in Ullapool for the night. The shops were still open when we first arrived here, so we enjoyed a wander round town before returning to the hotel to prepare for dinner. One purchase was made: a pink Harris Tweed coffee pot cosy from the one and only charity shop.

We intended to play a game of Scrabble before dinner, but we got into conversation with a couple from Oxford as we were helping ourselves to drinks from the honesty bar in the residents' sitting room. After a week of no company other than one another, chatting with strangers was a more attractive option to me than being thrashed at yet another board game by my husband.

Tomorrow the weather forecast is rain, so we will head home. It's been an excellent week and a day of holiday.

Exercise today: walking (10,505 steps).
