A proper boating pond

There can’t be many boating ponds left in Scotland that actually have boats for hire. These wonderful paddle boats are in Moffat where I stopped for several hours on my way to Higham Hall near Bassenthwaite Lake. I did a bit of a recce for a longish walk for Glasgow Ramblers which I think would more than justify the 90 minute bus journey, and also discovered the extensive and extremely well maintained Community Nature Reserve that was formerly a quarry.

Now at Higham and blipping filling in the the time until dinner, for once I haven’t looked at the menus that are posted outside the dining room so it will be a surprise. I have a room facing Skiddaw and unusually the WiFi signal is pretty good, I think I must be directly above the office. Looking forward to a few days singing with Deborah Catterall and delighted to see that G and H are also on the course.
