Crazy paving

It has been a long labour of love to uncover this overgrown path of crazy paving in our rental house. Although I find it quaint, and don't regret doing it, by the end I was wondering what kind of person thought it was a good idea to devise something with so many cracks ideally suited for dandelions. I guess when it originated gardeners just dowsed the path regularly with weedkiller.
