Same sea
It was a late start but we walked across towards the coast before having to head down to the beach in Portreath. It was then a very steep climb up to Western Hill before heading south on the coast path.
We had hoped to be able to strike inland, thus making it a circular walk, but having looked at one very steep zig-zag down and not encouraged by the same up the other side, we decided the sensible option was to retrace our steps. Having done the zig-zag before on our coast path walk, I didn’t see the necessity to do it again.
We did traverse Portreath beach, which was strewn with holidaymakers, to partake of an ice-cream, before gathering the courage to tackle the uphill trek back to our accommodation.
Before dinner we sat outside taking in the quiet in the sunshine, and sat out again later with a cup of tea, before we were bombarded by the family dog, called the shoe snatcher, so door closed to prevent theft. We then had a very pleasant chat with the farmer owner, who himself is trying to unravel his family history.
A delightful day.
