Get Your Skates On!
Ro and I taught Lou how to roller skate today.... it was definitely a 'double-auntie' kind of job!
A friend at work had given them to me, but I forgot to bring them home when we broke up. I grabbed them Tuesday when I went in, and when she saw them in the conservatory she said "ooh, roller skates!" Suffice to say it was case of too many cooks and a very risk-averse mum, and it all ended in tears! (No accidents though!).
Today she asked for a drop-off, and when I got back from the nail salon, she was game for going out in the street, just like we used to when we were kids. Ro managed to squeeze her feet into them (they're adjustable ones) and show her what to do. We were out there almost an hour, going up and down all parts of the cul-de-sac. She got more and more brave, and started doing tricks - well, who wouldn't when you've got an auntie holding each wrist! She did manage a bit of skating between each of us on her own, and there were no accidents, also a blessing ;-) The light was lovely, the sun was warm, and it's a happy memory.
I hope Lucy remembers the time we gave to her, rather than the material things :-)
* My arms are a bit sore today....
