Play it again Dave...
Backblip
And in a blink our week in the Western Isles is over. But what a week it's been. Great memories made and much laughter.
We bought lovely scones from the Waterside Cafe yesterday but were too full to eat them last night, so in a final indulgence we had scones with jam and clotted cream for breakfast and then it was time to leave this lovely house and that beautiful view.
Bookended our trip by heading to Lews Castle in Stornoway to have lunch. Patricia asked David to play the piano in the grand hall the last time we were here but we ran out of time, so today was the day. A quick tinkle of the ivories (on the lovely Steinway) of James Taylor's Fire and Rain and it was time to drop Patricia at Stornoway airport for her flight to Glasgow.
Said our goodbyes then we headed straight to the ferry terminal. Watched all the lucky people disembarking into the beautiful sunny day then it was time to board.
Thankfully the crossing was much smoother than a week ago and I was able to read. We ditched the idea of having something to eat in Ullapool and stopped at Tesco Extra in Inverness instead and bought some sandwiches. Home just after 9pm.
Alan and Lola were very happy to see us, and us them. Unpacked the essentials, had a cuppa then fell into bed exhausted.
