Fabulous Saturday. Usual swimming-ballet combo, although it is the final of what has been a very successful pattern. It worked well for us doing swimming before ballet. But she may be able to go back to it when she's finished this grade. Exciting news is that for the first time in 9months her bestest best swim teacher is returning to instructing again at the end of the week. She's not back teaching Katie's grade yet, but hopefully soon!

She had fun at ballet. It was a different teacher today and it was actually a really good class because there werent any of the teeniest ones so they were able to aim everything at Katie's age group and she got a lot from it.

She's spent a lot of the day since then eating. We went for a babyccino, then for a treat bag of chicken nuggets. She had a fruit bag, a banana, a sandwich, a sausage roll, a lolly, a large cup of milk. All during the time we were pottering round! Mummy needed a few bits and Katie needed a couple of pairs of shorts and new cardigans. She chose a really pretty pale green one that is so soft and looks adorable. Not a colour she's had much of previously.

We came home and did tea together. She wanted to cut the carrots, so had a good go with her children's knife but it wasnt really up to it. For the first time I allowed her to use a proper knife - with my hand right around hers and over her hand that was holding the carrot, of course - but it was all her with the cutting. She then prepared the strawberries for her pudding on her own using her knife.

Other "Journal Moments" from Katie today - we had our first successful game of "I Spy", both her guessing and choosing. Also, she saw the word monkey on our fridge, but it was written "mongey". She looked at it and said "mummy, look that's wrong" and changed the g to a k.
