Modern Art
A bit of light rain in the morning as we walked along below the city walls, stopping at the odd artisanal stand buying some honey and beach jewellery. We went up here, into the museum of modern art that, a lovely building set into the walls although with relatively small galleries.
The most powerful thing we saw was an exhibition of work by the Sardinia artist Maria Lai who I had never heard of. She worked in textiles and made beautiful maps and books full of wayward threads that approximated words and pathways. Really evocative.
V wasn’t feeling great so we took it easy and went back to the hotel for a light lunch. While he slept I walked up to the cathedral which was shut (on a Sunday!) well for general visitors so I bought V a hat which he needed.
In the evening we walked out of a restaurant after the starter as they were so offhand to us but then walked into another one which was delightful. It was called Forn and they have a vineyard near where we’re going so we’re determined to visit it.
The wind was quite high this evening but the rain has blown away at last.
