Impressionistic wine tasting
A more active day after a better night’s sleep. Some early calls and then we set off for the market in Puerto Pollença and picked up a few presents. We then went over to the Bodega of the restaurant where we had such a lovely time on Sunday night in Palma.
The setting was glorious and we sat at a table looking down over shades of green, the vines, the olives, the pines out to the blue of the bay and the distant mountains. We tasted a splash of six of their wines and chatted to the sommelier a Californian woman who’d been there five or six years working to the French vintner who was making wine with old Mallorquin varieties. They were so delicious and all named after animals found on the vineyard or in the sea beyond. They served us a plate of meats and cheeses to go with and we bought a mixed case to take home for our fellow guests to sample.
Stopped off for an ice cream in the local town and then whizzed home for me to have a couple of calls
The wine tasting went very well indeed with the group! Most popular wines were the owl and the tortuga or tortoise.
