Adventure on the buses!
8 buses today!! We were heading to Hebden Bridge originally, but our village bus was delayed so we missed the connection. Rather than wait another 30 minutes we jumped on the Skipton bound bus and decided to do the Skipton Woods walk so that we would be shaded from the sun. However, on arrival in Skipton I overheard an announcement about a bus to Grassington. We looked it up and found that there was a connection from Grassington to Buckden. So we went to Grassington - a lovely scenic journey, and in the car park there was an Upper Wharfedale community minibus waiting. Hopped on that and had a lovely trip via Rylstone, Cracoe, Hetton, Kettlewell and Starbotton into Buckden. Only had 40 minutes before the bus went back so a quick refreshment stop, but no time for a walk. The mini buses are not funded by the council, so although we could use our bus passes there is a donation box for loose change so that they can keep the service running. Good chat with the lady driver, and will definitely use again. Straightforward return to Skipton then the next bus didn't turn up. The one after was therefore completely full, and on a hot day the journey seemed quite long. Straight onto our last 2 buses and home (well we were very hot so had a refreshment stop at the local on our way up the hill!). Great day out!
