Its your round
Got up early this morning as RD and FM were on the passenger ferry back to the mainland before getting public transport back to Edinburgh. Loaded up the car with all out stuff and their cases and managed to get the 9.30 ferry to Islay. Headed over to Bowmore to go the soap shop and had a look in the little books shop there as well. Stopped off at Bowmore distillery and got a couple of things in the shop. We were invite up to the bar for a free dram as well, and I took mine back in a drivers bottle. Went back to Port Ellen to go to the new rum distillery for a look around and a sample. Very nice spiced rum and they have used peat smoked oranges in it to give it a Islay feel. Next stop was to Ardbeg for a look around and to get some lunch. Managed to get a nice photo of the dogs while J bought some smoked haddock chowder for lunch. Bought a bottle of this years committee bottling to put away in the cupboard and then headed to Laphroaig. Dogs were a bit hit and we got another dram to try and a drivers bottle to take away, we also collected our rent for our square foot of Islay we own through them. Started to head back to the ferry and stopped at Ardnahoe distillery for a coffee and piece of cake. Found a nice bag there we can use for the dogs when we go to the pub. Dogs were a bit hit again, especially with one of the staff who owns a Lagotto. Managed to have a quick look in Coal Ila new visitor center before it shut and headed down to wait for the ferry. Ferry was on time, even thought it was one of the old ferries and the dogs slept most of the way back. Long journey back went OK and managed to get home and the car unloaded by just after midnight.
