Juxtaposition

I hadn’t copped on to this consciously but the juxtaposition of Edinburgh’s Old and New towns is a wonder. I’d picked up the classic study of the development of the New Town from the second half (post Jacobite) of the 18C and it made this point.

A saunter into town for a new electric toothbrush from John Lewis and many bargains from the big TKMax. Met up with El Jefe for an impromptu lunch before steadying the ship before tea with T and launching back to heatwave bound Italy tomorrow. A new regional ordinance has banned bonfires until the end of September due to the extreme forest fire risk.

Btw passed that demolition site at bottom of Disgraced Dundas Street ( he delayed British abolition of slave trade by six? years and a half a million slaves) and was pissed off they were not using misting to suppress the demolition dust with whatever toxic stuff it might contain (extra).
