Flypast
Friday 8th September 2023
This morning I went out to do a recce for tomorrow's walk. Thankfully this one was successful and it was a lovely walk. I started along the river Yarrow and then around the Duxbury estate, returning along the canal. It is not an area I have explored before and I'd like to go back and explore the woods along the river further. Towards the end of the walk there is an ice cream parlour, serving about 40 flavours of ice cream. Well, it would have been rude not to try some! Delicious!
Back home, I washed the car to clear off most of the Sahara sand that was deposited on it on Wednesday evening. Three friends then joined me and we walked down the road and over the bypass to wait for the red arrows. We had received word that they were flying past the village on their way to do a flypast of Liverpool on the journey to Blackpool ready for the display at Southport tomorrow. I had found a map of their flight path and realised that they would be passing directly over the fields and road. We had a great view of them.
That left me with a challenge as to what to post but the red arrows won. Otherwise it would have been the river Yarrow - see extras.
