the calm before the storm

Today we took full advantage of the weather: cycled in the park, splashed in the paddling pool and had a BBQ. The first iris in our garden bloomed into flower today, and the others will be joining him over the next few days! It gave me a calm, serene feeling and brought the prospect of tomorrow's activity into sharp focus - The Wee Man is 5 tomorrow and we're hosting a good, old fashion house party for a dozen of his pals, complete with home made Lego birthday cake, pass the parcel and pin the tail on the donkey.
