A Very Tall Tree

We went for a Sunday drive, and ended up at Talbot Forest Scenic Reserve, just outside of Geraldine.

The track we took was only about 1.5km return, but we spent about an hour there.

We heard tuis and saw fantails, photographed some weird looking fungi, and ferns. I didn't realize there was a wood pigeon right in front of me until it flew away - I got quite a fright!

All in all it was an interesting afternoon.

I spent about half an hour hunting on the internet, trying to find out what this particular tree is, but to no avail. I'm pretty sure it's a native tree though.
