Last of Summer
Gentle light of early morning. I got up early to enjoy the calm and cool before the heat of the day. We walked Merlin in Nore Barn Woods, the oak woodland on the seashore at Emsworth.
In the cool shade we saw shinks of bright sunlight through the dark green tree canopy, and heard birds rustling in the undergrowth, gently calling to each other. It felt rather magical contrasted with the bright hot world beyond.
It was only a short walk as it was getting too hot for Merlin to be active so we returned home and all of us spent the afternoon inside trying to escape the heat.
Later as the air cooled I sat in the garden cleaning my garden tools and learning to sharpen them. My tools have been neglected and I’ve always wanted to sharpen them myself so a few days ago I got the necessary equipment.
So far it’s been a very satisfying and therapeutic process. Caring for my tools that work so hard for me and prolonging their life considerably, I hope. I’m looking forward to continuing with it tomorrow.
Hoping you’ve had a good Saturday.
