The Little Town of Alpine, WY
The sign on the way into this small Wyoming town on the border of Idaho, say 550 people, 5,700 ft altitude. It's small, but swells with both winter and summer tourists. It is in a bowl, surrounded by mountains.
This is a view I found today when Jazzy and I drove up the other side of the upper reaches of the Palisades Reservoir. You can see how low the reservoir is (well you can't see any water here) by the banks in the distance under the town. All the green stuff in the foreground must have grown in the recent spring rains.
The Snake River mountain range is in the distance, and yes that is snow on the top. Snake River Canyon runs up the valley behind to Jackson. I plan to explore there tomorrow.
