RAIN RAIN RAIN

That was definitely the theme for today and although it didn’t stop us doing much and it wasn’t cold it did dampen our experience of Kandy. A city that lots of people raved about.
#the view from our balcony overlooking Kandy. (The photo doesn’t really do it justice as you can see for miles even with the stormy clouds). At breakfast we’re were joined by several monkeys. One was obviously given the job of coming inside and grabbing the sugar sachets!!!
## we went to visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. It is a massive area and again we were barefoot. This time along the pavements and in puddles!!!
# This elephant gateway was destroyed along with part of the temple in a bomb attach in 1998. 17 people died :(
#This group of school children all in white (what a colour for a school uniform) and barefoot were also visiting the temple. Every time they saw us they waved x
Then we had a big decision to make. Our next excursion was the rainforest trek. Well we were already wet so it’s ok. Then we were informed there would be hundreds of leeches and we would like get some stuck to us. Well no then. Thank you very much but NO NO NO !!! I think our guide was quite relieved too.
#Instead we went to Queen’s Hotel for tea. Once a posh colonial hotel now quite a wreck!! This part gave you a glimpse to the past.
#we got back to our hotel in time for Sri Lankan Afternoon Tea…here’s today crown photo!! The tea was delicious.
#The service in the hotel is excellent and this touch in our room was lovely.
#Before dinner I had a swim (in a very very cold pool) whilst The Rev had yet another massage. I had a 30 min leg one afterwards!!!!
