Shady

It was very hot, with high humidity and no hint of a breeze. We had abandoned our plan for a day out several days ago, as J no longer copes at all well with regulating her body temperature and can become seriously overheated, so thought a short drive to a shady spot would be a low-key substitute. Kearsney Abbey park is on the edge of Dover, formerly attached to a stately home and now well managed by the local authority - I last blipped about it in January. The river Dour runs through, with a lake and lots of swans (in extras), and there are many beautiful mature trees, accessible paths and shady benches. We chose a quiet spot in deep shade where J and I could try again to draw on the tablet computer. This was much more successful than our last attempt, when reflections made it impossible to see the screen. We created a simple, smudgy background sketching the shapes and mass of grass, lake and trees beyond. It's not great art, and is far from finished, but J enjoyed it and I was pleased that I could support her to grip the stylus and help with the fine pinpointing of the various controls. She also enjoyed seeing swans, ducks and lots of wet dogs.

I'm back-blipping this on Sunday, and have several more days' photos to catch up with when I can find time.
