Delivered

I delivered son P. today in Wernigerode. It is a nice city, with interesting centre, and a castle. And what is also attracting tourists is the close proximity of the Harz with the mountain "Brocken".
It was nearly 30°C but we nevertheless used the opportunity and climbed the Brocken. We made a tour of 14.6km, with height difference of 530m.
Other people took the train, offered by the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen GmbH. Although very interesting, see my pictures, not so many did this. The price of 53€ for a round trip is just too much.
The Harz, especially the part of the Brocken, suffered a lot at the beginning of the century. My second extra shows a part of it. But, as you can read here, 75% of the forest is left to its own. And what surprises the experts: a mono-culture returns! (The site linked to is also available in English, but not as detailed.
