Yo-Yo Ma Sells Out the Schnitzer
A very good concert for a loud and happy crowd. The concert wasn't part of the series we attend each year, so we had different seats, but that's not a complaint, the seats were fine considering this patron is quick to complain when she can't see everything. I loved hearing the concert, loved being in that big space with so many people, but I really loved seeing everything, from the jewel-colored dresses worn by women players scattered throughout the orchestra, to the impromptu dance together as Mr. Ma and our conductor left the stage for the umpteenth time, to watching certain favorite musicians as they play. Watching is so much fun.
But, Yo-Yo Ma wasn't the only one to get the crowd to its feet: as soon as he entered the stage to welcome us and make announcements and acknowledgements, our orchestra president, who leaves this season, was brought to tears with a long, standing ovation. Fun to be a part of that crowd.
