Afton Mountain Valley

We were in no rush this morning. After a leisurely breakfast, we packed the car and headed for home around 9:00 am. The blue skies with puffy white clouds were a welcome change although we had a bit of fog early. We stopped at a scenic overlook where I got this panoramic view. The Blue Ridge mountains can be seen on the far side. Hubby and I had a Geography lesson this week. There are so many mountain range names on the East coast. We decided to look them all up. I would love one of those old fashioned maps with each group overlayed. We took a few scenic routes and stopped at Yoder’s Country store. I found some items for Christmas gifts, bought a coconut custard pie and homemade granola for hubby. Next stop was the grocery store. Prices are still on the rise. I feel so sorry for young folks with kids, car and house payments. Not sure how they can afford groceries and today’s out of sight medical, utilities and gasoline prices. My youngest and her hubby have a nice income. She is getting ready to graduate and will start paying off her student loans. Her hubby is getting a part time job to pay them off in a year. I admire their determination. It will mean sacrifice but one they are willing to accept for the long term benefit. She wants to start her master’s program student debt free. We are only a few miles from home. The trip only took six hours today. It will be such a relief to pull in that driveway. If only we didn’t have all the unpacking to do… Wishing you a blessed week. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “Life has all sorts of hills and valleys, and sometimes you don't end up doing what you had your heart set out on, but sometimes that's even better.” - Ruth Buzzi
