Twenty-six miles later

So, having seen them off last night I was back down in Leith to see them finish. Actually took a few shots over the last mile or so, but the celebration in front of the 26 mile marker was always going to be the blip shot. L and H walked at a similar pace to their two previous years, but seemed in much better shape at the end than last year's very damp night, or their first time two years ago. And L also finished well in her first full moon, after doing the half moon last year. P found things a lot tougher and although she finished with the others she was really exhausted. Well done to all four and all the other walkers and volunteers that make it such a great event !! Apparently the event organiser hinted in her pre-walk speech that they'd had to battle a bit with un-named opposition to the walk in order to even get it to happen this year. There may be a little disruption if you live on the route, but surely that's something you can live with for one night a year? It would be a real shame if it stopped coming to Edinburgh because of a few objections.
