Raindrops on Osteospermum

Today was the rain after the heatwave. My bungalow just gets hotter and hotter when we have 20C nights as well as 30C days with full sun, so it's been lovely to cool it down today with a temperature more like 16C out. The heatwave also baked the garden, so it really needed some rain. We did have quite a lot of rain for 2 hours after lunch and the total for today so far is 33mm - the average here for Sept is 37mm, so almost a month's worth of rain in a few hours. It's been good to catch up with some jobs today too. I was less happy with the huge spider that ran across the lounge floor though, the second one in the bungalow in a few days (and no it couldn't have been the same one, and it won't be returning!).

What terrible news we've had in the last few days, first at least 2,900 killed in the earthquake in Morocco and today the news of the collapse yesterday of two dams in Libya with at least 2,000 reported dead and 10,000 missing. I'm hoping the Disaster's Emergency Committee will be setting up appeals so we can make donations to help.
