Largs Sunset

P has volunteered to do the first student presentation when his course starts up again soon, that means he's spent much of the day preparing.  I left him to it and was out in the garden and have completed around two thirds of the weeding needed in the gravel patch outside the front door.  Neighbour F was pretty amused by the frequent visits by Odo as he popped over to say hello whilst I was busy.  Also got a got recommendation for a lunch spot from her too (note - Hikerty Pikerty).

We decided to head out to Largs for the last big evening of the Viking Festival.  They had a battle re-enactment, torchlit procession andthe burning of a boat, like a very mini Up Helly-aa.  We were too late to get tickets which got us close to the action, though we did stand near a volunteer who was local and very familar with the history of Largs and got an alternative commentary to the events. "It wasn't really a battle, it was a skirmish" and "They weren't actually Vikings, they were Norseman, the viking era was over by a couple of centuries and they weren't invading, they'd just got blown over from Millport".  Suffice to say we'll be heading back at some point to check out the Largs museum where she also volunteers!

I tried to get some photos of the boat burning but I'm not the best at night photography, so it's a nice sunset off the coast instead.
