The Guy with the Splinter in His Foot

I took the opportunity of a friend visiting Amsterdam to visit the newly reopened Rijksmuseum. It was insanely crowded so we didn't stay too long. this painting made me laugh - or at least this corner of it. It seemed so out of place amongst all the portraits and religious scenes. And so casual and commonplace next to the skull and bones.
