Faded grandeur
Today I was in Doncaster whilst the car was in for service. Wandering around I discovered there are quite a few elegant buildings which are indicative of more prosperous times in the past.
This is the Pillar House on South Parade which is Doncaster's most complete historic street.
Sadly it looks to be in a poor state of repair and in need of some TLC. I understand it was last used for offices some years ago.
According to the Doncaster Civic Trust, all the properties in this street are listed and Georgian with one exception at number 6A.
The extra is another Georgian building a little further down South Parade which is in a similar state of neglect.
It's rather sad to see such grand buildings in such a state of decay. Hopefully one day they will be refurbished and put back into use.
