Calathea close-up

Here is the seed producing part of this calathea plant, mostly grown for its showy leaves. It's taking over the garden. 

A beautiful day with plenty of heat in the sun but still some smoke from the hazard reduction burns which makes my eyes stream. A nice catch up with a friend in the afternoon was gratifying.
