Amazing Amy

Had she not died in 2011 at the age of 27, today would have been the 40th birthday of the amazing singer / songwriter Amy Winehouse. The Press like to focus on her challenges with depression, drug and then alcohol addiction which killed her. I feel sad that her incredible talents end up getting overlooked. She released her first album aged only 20, with the song ‘Stronger than Me’ winning an Ivor Novello award. Her stunning follow up album ‘Back to Black’ was released in 2006 when she was only 23. That led to international success and was one of the best selling albums in UK history. She won a Brit Award for Best British Solo Artist, and another Ivor Novello award for the song ‘Rehab’. Then in 2008 she won 5 Grammys plus another Ivor Novello award for ‘Love is a Losing Game’. She played Glastonbury, set up her own record label, and donated money and music to many charities. I watched several programmes of her performances on BBC2 on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed them. If only…..in terms of what she could have gone on to achieve.

I walked with H this morning on Kelling Heath, a lovely walk and warm enough not to need a fleece. This afternoon I did more digging / weeding and cut back my other laurel tree. Then I collected my 2 part duvet from Sheringham after cleaning, the £45 cost presumably reflects the huge energy costs involved.
