A Day Worth Recording

Wyche'ing Hour

Having been fighting with 18sqm curtains; rails; pelmets you could build a small house out of and recalcitrant screws from... wherever recalcitrant screws come from, we wandered up the hill to The Wyche Inn, at the Wyche Cutting, for a pint and a meal.

And, unexpectedly, an English folk music session.

The name Wyche, also as wich, common in placenames in these parts, is said to have a salt connection.  One opinion I've found in t'internet suggests: the name ultimately derives from Hwicce, the name of an Ancient British tribe who controlled the salt producing area around Droitwich, Worcestershire, 2000 years ago.
