The Hillman & Her, The Friars, Aylesford
Another back blip today as it's now late Thursday evening but I took this image last Sunday afternoon. The end to last week was tiring due to more train problems which meant eleven train journeys in three days and a lot of frustration (swearing may have been involved at various points!).
The day started with our usual early morning run but we decided not to have breakfast as we'd booked our monthly Sunday lunch treat, this time at The Horseshoes in East Farleigh. The food was great, especially as it was accompanied with a lovely cold beer.
On the way back we decided to head to The Friars as there was a classic car show in progress and it's always a great chance to get a photograph or two. By the time we got there the temperature was nudging 33 C so I quite understood how the woman in my image was using an umbrella for some much needed shade. I thought she looked very stylish considering the heat.
The title of my shot is a play on the late but maybe not lamented dance music programme called The Hitman & Her.It was a bizarre very late evening/early morning dance music series presented by the surreal combination of Pete Waterman and Michaela Strachan! It ran from September 1988 until December 1992 and they appeared in various nightclubs around the country, mostly in Northern England, the Midlands and Scotland. The very first venue was Mr. Smiths in Warrington and the last was The Discotheque Royale in Manchester. Those were the days!
My recommended track for today ends things on a more tranquil, achingly beautiful note. It's Eva Cassidy's version of the Joni Mitchell track "Woodstock". It may be sacrilege to say but I love this version more than the original.
