Bridge, Bullet Train and Bike
Doug Gomez - Rosa Blanca
Two types of people: people with direction and people with distractions.
When I was in high school I always came up with these pseudo-intellectual bite sized phrases to try and be profound. It’s funny, the sensation of thinking you’ve come up with something smart, but in fact, not. It’s something so distinctly addictive because it feels like you’ve broken the invisible threshold of history and life significance, that you almost see Aristotle kicking back with a beer next to you and raising his glass to you. Happy delusional delights.
Back to high school. Whenever I’d come up with phrases like this there’d be one annoyance of a spot that would contest it with irritating logic. “Well actually…” “But if you ACTUALLY think about it…” “We’ll that doesn’t work…” (furrowed eyebrows curdling above patronisingly perplexed eyeballs).
It was like banging my head against a wall, but it was clear my head was (and still is) in the clouds. People like that definitely don’t enjoy music or lyrics.
