Grainger Market
A cool and very rainy day in Newcastle today. At least the fruit and veg brightened the place up.
I always enjoy a little look in the Grainger Market - it was designed by John Dobson and opened in 1835. Originally, it was divided into two parts - a meat market and a fruit and veg market. Although there are still stalls selling meat and veg there is also a fish market and lots of stalls selling street food, real ale, clothes, pet supplies, books etc. It's a real treasure trove.
In recent years it has received grants totalling £9 million which is intended to breath new life into the much loved market.
