Edinburgh

If I'm honest, I probably could have done without this trip; sometimes it's just nice to get back into one's routine for a while. But Ash and Bob were up for a couple of days away, and it would have been churlish to say no. Thus, I drove up to Kirkby Lonsdale, this morning, packed my bags, and set off up the road to Scotland.

I opted to turn off the M74 at Moffat and take the more bucolic route up to Edinburgh, which is always a treat, and really doesn't take that much longer than slogging it up the motorway.

There was some minor drama at my AirBnB in Leith - there was no parking permit - which took a while to compensate for, and in the end I missed out on the Scottish Malt Society and met up with Ash and Bob at Katy's Bar.

The evening was supposed to be spent in Stockbridge, where I took today's photo. (I love the layering effect in old signs, like history is fighting back.) And indeed we did visit a few pubs, but then Ash seemed a bit worse for wear, despite not having drunk that much.

I was a little concerned about him and he seemed to be ready for bed, so in the end we had an early finish and grabbed an Uber back to Leith.
