Guitar pedal
Although I had always been a music lover, when I arrived at university, I didn't know very much at all about the process of making and recording music. For example, despite having watched lots of bands' TV and live performances, I don't think I knew what a guitar pedal was.
That was all changed when I met Ash - the same chap with whom I was in Edinburgh earlier this week - who was the guitarist in a band. I promptly became an enthusiastic and attentive student.
Ash had a small collection of guitar pedals, to which you connect your guitar, processing its signal on the way to the amp. There are hundreds of them out there, but I remember Ash's pedals were all by Boss. From memory, he had pedals for Chorus, Flanging, Overdrive, and Delay.
I have a small collection of pedals myself, these days, but this week I bought a new one. My guitar homework was to write a bassline, and I was so pleasantly surprised with the results, that I bought this pedal, which will lower the guitar's notes by an octave, to make it sound like a bass.
