Celebrating Dunollie Woods

A fine day today and a normal Saturday morning for us - the library and fresh fish from the pier.

After lunch I went to Dunollie, as a 'Town of the Woodlands' celebration had been planned, to celebrate Oban's proximity to a Celtic rain forest. There was a good turnout, it was a perfect afternoon, and as well as stalls and craft tables there was an 'open mike' session when various people came on stage to recite their poetry, sing Gaelic songs and tell stories.

When all those who had agreed to perform had been up on stage the compere asked if anyone else would like to do something. A young schoolgirl came up to sing a beautiful Gaelic song, unaccompanied - see extra - another young woman played the keyboard and finally a small boy, probably about five, rather nervously sang a verse of 'Twinkle, twinkle little star'!

A lovely afternoon and still sunny enough when I arrived home to have a cuppa out on the deck with a book!
