water tower
Max and I travelled West to Elstal, the former shunting yard Wustermark for the railway open day. We had a guided tour of the historic signal box from 1909. I was surprised the signals were controlled electromechanically. I expected mechanical levers. The yard is no longer used for shunting but it is now used to park trains. We also got a tour of a hybrid 6 axle locomotive. Max got to sit in the driver's seat. Walking past the running diesel engine was quite cool. Max got to enquire about work placements. We also stopped for some food and beer. We had a great time.
