Sgwarnog: In the Field

By sgwarnog

Heron

a grey heron waits
while the river ripples by
midges are swarming

On the last day of the half-term break, 8yo accompanied me on a walk from Guiseley, through the woods to Esholt and then along the banks of the Aire, up through Tong Park and over the moor home. The cloud burned off as the afternoon progressed, and a few butterflies crossed our path at various points on the walk: Large and Small White, my first Peacock for a few weeks, Speckled Wood, Small Tortoiseshell, Orange-tip and in Esholt, two Small Coppers, my first of the year, and one more than I saw in the whole of last year.

Menorca back blips continue on a butterfly theme:

Day 3: Common Blue
Day 4: Cleopatra
