Adam Smith

This week Kirkcaldy Library re-opened as Kirkcaldy Galleries after a massive refurbishment providing a state of the art library, museum, art gallery and visitor information centre.This weekend has been a festival of celebration marking the wise commitment of local politicians to the provision of first rate cultural facilities for our community. When libraries in other communities are closing because foolish political economies it is significant that Adam Smith, born here, featured in the celebrations. Surely he would have seen beyond such 'false economies'.
