What happened next?

Rather like a task on BBC's "Question of Sport"- what happened next and the answer is that the weight had cleared the bar but then struck it in the way down, broke the bar and thus it failed to register as a successful throw.

We were at Ardrossan Highland Games and were well entertained by the heavy events including tossing the caber, trained sheepdogs rounding up ducks, highland dancing and both solo pipers and pipe bands.

The weather was glorious and this spell of fine weather has done much to dispel the long winter.
