Little of wine drinker me......
This little fellow was having a bit of trouble getting across the patio area, far to hot for him, so after taking a blip put him amongst the foliage. It is a Drinker moth catapillar.
This super-shaggy caterpillar is a familiar apparently unsure if its because I'm off work that I seem to be seeing lots of great things unless it looking for possible blips is opening my eyes more.
The drinker moths are one of four big caterpillars you might come across, all of which spend two years as a caterpillar before hatching into large day-flying moths. Being big and hairy they do not have much to fear, most birds find them too hairy to deal with only the Cuckoo will eat it. The drinker species gets its English (and Latin) name from the habits of the caterpillar, which is supposed to have a liking for drops of dew.
